This article covers the different auto enrolment alert messages you may see in Primo Payroll.
1. Missing staging dates
This lists the companies which has a missing Staging date. Clicking the ‘Get Staging Date’ button retrieves the Staging date for the requested companies. The Tax office and PAYE Reference number must be specified in the HMRC settings for the program to find this out.
2. Staging due in 30 days
This count shows the number of companies whose staging date falls within the next 30 days and if the company is still not signed up with a pension provider.
3. Employers due for sign-up
This lists the companies which has a staging date and is not yet signed up with a pension provider and the staging date falls within the next 6 months.
4. Awaiting Scheme Confirmation
This is applicable for the user who has signed-up the pension scheme with the pension provider directly and configured the same in Primo. After the pension scheme is displayed ‘Active’ in PensionSync portal, it can be downloaded into Primo. Click the ‘Retrieve Scheme’ and the pension scheme settings will be configured in Primo.
5. Missing Membership IDs
Applicable for Smart Pension. This alert on the Auto Enrolment task lists only the employees who do not have a membership ID which is mandatory for Smart Pension/ L&G. The user should click the count and ‘retrieve the membership ID’ from the pension provider or can enter the Membership ID and the Membership start date manually, if required.
6. Opt-out refund due
This count shows the number of employees who have been opted out of the pension scheme and awaiting a pension refund. Once the refund has been made and the period has been closed, this count clears itself. This is only for information purpose.
7. Postponement communication to send
Relevant to: NEST, NOW, TPP, L&G, Aviva, Standard Life
This lists the companies for which the Postponement communication are to be sent. This is only relevant to the users whose pension providers does not perform the communication to the employees and the user want to send them from Primo.
8. Assessment communication to send
Relevant to: NEST, NOW, People’s Pension (TPP), L&G, Aviva
This lists the companies for which the Assessment communication are to be sent. This is only relevant to the users whose pension providers does not perform the assessment communication to the employees and the user want to send them from Primo.

10. AE email templates
After you have auto enrolled the eligible jobholders, you should communicate with them about their rights and entitlements. In the Settings -> Email Design Templates, there is list of auto enrolment email design templates which is used for communication to the employees. The user can amend these templates if required.
These emails are automatically sent to the employees when the ‘Close Period’ is done. The following table shows the email design templates and its action.

If you are signed-up with Smart Pension, then the communication can be either handled in Primo or by Smart Pension. And, if you are signed-up with Pension Providers via PensionSync, then the communication is handled within the Primo Payroll Company.
